Hiring workers off of Minnesota's unemployment rolls would earn businesses a $3,000 tax credit under a jobs plan unveiled by Governor Dayton and DFL lawmakers. House passes tax bill over DFL objections
The Minnesota House approved a tax bill that would freeze business property taxes and create several new tax breaks. Minnesota's jobless rate remains 5.6 percent for the third straight month, according to the figures released Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. Employers added 7,200 jobs last month to end a three-month skid of job losses in the state. Minnesota is still well below the national unemployment rate of 8.2 percent.
Target plans to hire up to 27,000 employees in Canada
The Minneapolis-based company plans to hire up to 200 people at each Canadian location. Target is getting ready to open more than 120 stores in Canada next year, with the first 12 in Quebec.
