Longtime Dairy Queen set to close in St. Cloud

The corner of 25th Avenue and Division Street in St. Cloud has been home to a seasonal Dairy Queen for more than six decades, but that will come to an end on Sunday, Sept. 2. "Hopefully, we can send everyone away happy one last time," said owner Bob Lahr. The tiny vintage cement building is being demolished to make room for a new CVS Pharmacy. A new Dairy Queen location just south of the existing building is set to open in February.

Vintage St. Cloud Dairy Queen to close doors after 63 years

A vintage Dairy Queen building in St. Cloud is preparing to dish out its last soft-serve cone Sunday. KARE-TV reports the land where the building sits on Division Street has been purchased by another company, so the business is relocating. The Dairy Queen building opened in 1949, and still has its original refrigerator and stainless steel counter-tops.

Concrete falls from pedestrian bridge in St. Cloud

Part of University Drive was closed to traffic Saturday night after concrete had fallen from a pedestrian bridge near the St. Cloud State University campus, the St. Cloud Times reports. No injuries or damage was reported. The bridge remains closed to pedestrians until further notice.

St. Cloud teen takes bulldozer for joyrides

St. Cloud police say 18-year-old Charles Luke Lenzmeier went to a construction site and helped himself to a bulldozer three days in a row for about 10 hours. He faces charges of theft and felony operation of a motor vehicle.

Bailiff uses Taser in St. Cloud courtroom

The taser was needed to break up a fight that broke out after a judge denied a man a harassment restraining order. After the hearing, the St. Cloud Times reports Shawn Richard Skinner allegedly punched the other man in the face. He is now facing charges of fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
