Dikken offers guilty plea in Granite Falls killing of woman, boyfriend

The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend while they slept is offering a guilty plea in the case, the West Central Tribune reports.

Andrew Joseph Dikken, 28, is offering to plead guilty to two counts of second-degree murder, according to a motion filed with the District Court in Granite Falls. The offer is an effort to lessen his ultimate sentence, the Tribune reports. Prosecutors have not yet responded to it.

Dikken, of Renville, was charged in Yellow Medicine County in the slaying of Kara Monson, 26, of Granite Falls, and Christopher Panitzke, 28, (pictured above) of Redwood Falls.

Dikken was sought by police for two weeks after the slayings before he was arrested last month.

He remains jailed on $3 million bail.

Investigators say Dikken went to Monson’s Granite Falls home early on the morning of Sept. 1, flipped on the lights and shot the couple, according to a criminal complaint. Granite Falls is roughly 125 west of the Twin Cities.
