Who would do this to a pet?

That's what Duluth police are trying to find out after a severely injured Pit Bull Mix was dropped off anonymously on Jan. 31 at an animal hospital.

Staff at Waters Edge Animal Hospital told police a woman who anonymously brought the dog in said it was hit with a car.

But hospital staff told police the dog's injuries were more consistent with a fight with another dog. They also believe someone tried to slit the dog's throat "in an attempt to kill it."

Those who dropped the dog off arrived in a small, dark four-door car, and the woman mentioned above is believed to be in her 20s with short blonde hair and a ponytail.

Anyone with information about how the dog sustained the injuries is asked to call Duluth Animal Control at 218-723-3259.

Donations to help care for dog, or any other dog, can be sent to the Duluth Police Department.
