Dog lost for 2 weeks in Boundary Waters is reunited with owners


Thanks to the generosity of strangers, a dog lost in the north woods for almost two weeks is back in the arms of its West St. Paul family.

The Pioneer Press reports J.J., a skittish 2-year-old border collie mix, ran off on July 17 after he was spooked by a thunderstorm during a trip to the Boundary Waters.

A friend of dog owners Nicole Paradise and Greg Rohleder put out a plea on a BWCA message board and they couldn't have asked for a better response.

The newspaper reports word of the dog's disappearance traveled fast and community members were out in full force searching for J.J.

After being missing for 12 days, the couple got a voicemail from a camper who had lured J.J. into a tent with a trail of hotdogs about seven miles south of where he went missing.
