Don't be last: Twin Cities Marathon registration is nearly filled

Author:

Runners, take your mark, get set ... check your calendar because the biggest marathon in Minnesota is already filling up.

Registration for the 2016 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Oct. 9 already has 85 percent of the 11,600 runner field registered, organizers announced.

“If there are runners still deciding about whether to run, now is the time to register,” Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director Virginia Brophy Achman said. “There’s time to get in the race, train well for it, and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done in October.”

It is the 35th anniversary of the TC Marathon and like years past it will be run from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul along the Mississippi River.

30,000 people are expected to participate in running events held Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, Oct. 9. Saturday events at the Capitol grounds in St. Paul include the TC 10K and TC 5K.

Registration for the over 10,000 entries into the TC 10 Mile is already closed.
