Don't let these Easter eggs hatch; they've been recalled by Target

If the toys were swallowed by a child, it could be life-threatening.

Several Easter-season toys sold by Target have been recalled because if they were accidentally swallowed by a child, the consequences could be fatal.

Target used the Consumer Product Safety Commission's "Fast Track Recall" process to alert customers who have the Hatch & Grow toys.

The toys absorb water. If they were ingested, they would expand inside a child's body and would need to be surgically removed. The CPSC also notes the toys might not show up in a doctor's X-ray.

The recall involves more than half a million toys, which can be returned to Target for a refund.

The recalled toys are the Hatch & Grow Easter Egg, the Easter Grow Toy, and the Hatch Your Own Dino Egg, each of which comes in various colors and designs.

The CSPS says no injuries have been reported. They've got details about the recall here.
