Dozens of Minnesota colleges and universities among top ranked schools

Minnesota is home to some of the best national universities and liberal arts colleges, according to the 2013 edition of U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges rankings. Carleton College in North Field was named the 8th best national liberal arts college. The magazine also recognized the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

Minnesota is home to some of the best national universities and liberal arts colleges, according to the 2013 edition of U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges rankings.

Carleton College in Northfield was named the 8th best national liberal arts college. Macalester College in St. Paul was ranked 24th.

The magazine also recognized the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. It was ranked 68th on the list of top national universities.

University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, 113, and St. Mary's University in Winona, 174, were also named top universities nationally.

Carleton College and Macalester College are among the top 100 schools in the United States, according to Forbes. Carleton came in 31st and Macalester ranked 78th. Fifteen other Minnesota colleges and universities were named on the annual list of America’s 650 Top Colleges.
