Duluth group to try to break world record for snow angels

There's a Guinness World Record for the number of snow angels -- and an event is being organized in Duluth to break it.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that the "Make Your Mark: Angels for a Cause" event Feb. 9 will try to get 9,000 people to lay down on the ground and wave their arms and legs to make snow angels.

The current world record for snow angels is 8,962, which was set in North Dakota, according to Guinness.

The event will take place at the University of Minnesota Duluth campus.

The organizers -- Rotary of Duluth Club 25 and Proctor High School's DECA club -- say donations for the event will benefit Global Team for Local Initiatives, which works on development projects in Ethiopia.
