A Duluth area man has died after he was crushed by a shed on Tuesday night.

The 35-year-old, identified as David Szyszkoski, died when the shed he was attempting to move fell on him at his home on Island Lake Dam Road, Fredenburg Township – about 18 miles north of Duluth.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened at around 10:30 p.m., with Szyszkoski pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Aviation Business Gazette, Szyszkoski was a certified pilot who was in 2013 inducted into the Federal Aviation Authority's Airmen Certification Database.

His obituary in the Duluth News Tribune lists him as a former resident of Chassell, Michigan, and says he "passed away unexpectedly from injuries received in an accident."

Michigan resident Sandi Maki says she is Szyszkoski's cousin, and paid tribute to him on Facebook.
