After six weeks of repairs and flood cleanup, Grandma’s Miller Hill restaurant (not the more famous one on the lakefront) will reopen Monday with a more upscale look. Grandma’s Restaurant Co. had no flood insurance on the eatery. Restaurant officials say that for at least two weeks, it will donate 10 percent of the restaurant’s food sales to a flood-relief fund.

Park officials have been suffering from "visitor withdrawal," one told the Duluth News Tribune. The park will have diminished services for a while. About 38 of 50 miles of hiking trails are open, and visitors will only be able to access the park from the west.

Duluth native Goucher wins Grandma's half-marathon

Kara Goucher, who will represent the U.S. in the Olympic marathon in London, finished a 13.1-mile half-marathon event Saturday in a course-record 1 hour, 9 minutes, 34 seconds. She was back in her hometown for Grandma's Marathon weekend, and was lifted along the way by her old classmates from Duluth East, former neighbors and family friends who came to see her first race in town since her high school days.
