Ecolab hires new chief supply chain officer

St. Paul-based Ecolab Inc. announced Wednesday that it has hired Alex Blanco as executive vice president and chief supply chain officer, according to a company news release. He will oversee the company's global supply chain operations around the world.

"Alex is a superb leader who has a track record building world-class supply chain capabilities," said Doug Baker, Ecolab's chairman and chief executive officer. "We are delighted to have him join our leadership team."

Blanco joins Ecolab after 30 years with Procter & Gamble Co.

On Tuesday, CEO Baker said in a news release that 2013 earnings should be $3.38 to $3.48 per share, excluding special gains, charges and tax items.

Ecolab is also in the process of buying chemical maker Champion Technologies for about $2.16 billion.

Ecolab appoints Handley to president and chief operating officer

Ecolab's net income, sales surge in third quarter
