Gary Boisclair, a challenger to U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, has purchased airtime on KARE-TV and other Twin Cities television stations this week to air three extremely graphic anti-abortion ads. Ellison challenger makes race an issue

Republican candidate Chris Fields wants to make this fall's election a referendum on race, the Star Tribune reports. Both he and 5th District Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., are black. Fields says Ellison has failed his black constituents, which Ellison strongly denies. "I'm fighting for the whole district," the third-term incumbent says.

Colbert grills Ellison on Muslim Brotherhood, Mary Tyler Moore

Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., sat down for a chat with comedian Stephen Colbert on "The Colbert Report" and they chatted over allegations made by Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., that he is tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. They also role-played what might happen if Mitt Romney called and asked Ellison to be his running mate.

Groups call seminar on Somalia anti-Muslim

Muslim and Somali organizations are slamming an upcoming seminar on Somalia organized by former Ramsey County sheriff Bob Fletcher. They say "Understanding the People of Somalia" will spread "inaccurate and biased information" and lead to more racial and religious profiling. The groups say featured speakers at the event "unrepresentative of their community and unqualified to speak."
