Former state lawmaker Tom Emmer reported raising $220,000 for his campaign to replace U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann in less than a month, the Star Tribune reports. Bachmann said in May that she wouldn't seek reelection.

Emmer announced his candidacy on June 5.

According to Politics in Minnesota, Emmer also proved to be an effective fundraiser in his 2010 gubernatorial campaign when he was defeated by Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, raising about $2.8 million.

Republicans, state Sen. John Pederson of St. Cloud and Anoka County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Rhonda Sivarajah, and DFL environmental activist Judy Adams are all vying for the 6th District Congressional seat, but have not yet released fundraising reports.

The Federal Election Commission will release campaign finance records for all congressional candidates next week from the last three months.
