Ex-Olympian, Big 10 icon Suzy Favor Hamilton admits to being call girl

Former Olympic middle-distance runner and University of Wisconsin star athlete Suzy Favor Hamilton has acknowledged that she has worked for the last year as a Las Vegas escort.

The 44-year-old married mother acknowledges she made a "huge" mistake in a detailed story on The Smoking Gun website, which reports that the story leaked out after she told several clients her true identity.

The Smoking Gun story says she began working as a prostitute last December and charged $600 for one hour and $6,000 for a day, and that she worked in cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chicago.

She lives in Madison, Wis., where she owns a realty company with her husband, ESPN and the Associated Press report.

The Big 10 female athlete of the year award is named for Suzy Favor Hamilton. She competed on U.S. Olympic squads in 1992, 1996 and 2000 but did not win a medal.

Her website says she works as a motivational speaker.
