Facebook deluged with back-to-school photos

Beaming Minnesota parents uploaded a staggering number of back-to-school images of their children to Facebook on Tuesday, the Pioneer Press noted. As social media continue to grow and expand, it may be that more and more parents are carefully posing that perfect shot of their well-scrubbed kids – and quickly posting it to the Internet.

Many people scrolling through Facebook on Tuesday found themselves wading through a lot of back-to-school images posted by friends and family. Proud Minnesota parents were flooding the social media website with images of children decked out in new duds as they headed off for a new academic year, the Pioneer Press reported.

The newspaper on Tuesday asked on Facebook if it seemed like there were more cute-kid pics this year than in years past. One mom said, "Lots!"

The phenomenon was noted in Canada, too, the CBC reports.

For many parents, the back-to-school shot is not an afterthought, but a carefully choreographed event, and ABC News blog notes.

Facebook turns to Target to prove its ads are effective

Back to school: 2 bus accidents reported

Thousands of students in the Twin Cities and around the state headed back to school Tuesday. Two relatively minor bus accidents were reported. A bus driver was injured in Maplewood when a vehicle rear-ended the bus at County Road C and English Avenue. Minneapolis officials said a few students were aboard a bus when a vehicle hit it at the intersection of 49th and Camden avenues North, but no injuries were reported.
