A falling tree killed a farmer who was trying to herd his cattle during Tuesday's storm.

The Sibley County Sheriff's Office says Marvin Zeismer, 62, was on a four-wheeler attempting to herd the animals from the pasture because of the storm when the tree fell, KDUZ reports.

First responders found Ziesmer at 6:39 p.m. under the tree on the property, according to the Belle Plaine Herald.

The farm is located off Highway 15, a few miles north of Arlington, in southern Minnesota, the Star Tribune says.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the area near the man's farm Tuesday night, and hail and tree damage were reported in Arlington following the storm.

Last year, there was one "hazardous weather fatality" in Minnesota and six injuries, according to preliminary numbers from the National Weather Service. The person died from the cold.

Nationally, there were 522 deaths and 2,143 injuries in 2015.
