A Marine sergeant originally from Delano, Minnesota, is among those missing after two U.S. helicopters collided on a training mission over Hawaii, family members say.
The family of Sgt. Dillon Semolina, 24, tells KARE 11 they're asking for prayers.
Two CH-53 helicopters apparently collided in mid-air off the island of Oahu during an overnight flight, CNN reports. Crews from the Navy, Coast Guard, and Honolulu Fire Department spent Friday searching for the 12 Marines but were hampered by bad weather, including surf that rose to 40 feet, the network says.
Coast Guard Lt. Scott Carr told NBC News: "Everybody's putting every available resource they have to try and find survivors from this accident. With a little bit of luck and a little bit of prayer, we'll be successful."
