A pair of eagles whose nest is under the watchful gaze of millions of internet users are back on their nest. They gained fame last year by hatching and raising two eaglets in front of the tree-mounted camera. The hen laid one egg Friday. Another egg could come any time now.

A pair of eagles made famous by hatching and raising their brood on a high resolution internet camera are in a family way again. They're watching over one egg laid Friday. Last year three days passed before the second egg appeared.

Eagle population soaring in Minnesota

An eagle project manager with the National Park Service told the Star Tribune officials counted 36 nests along the Mississippi River between Elk River and Hastings. That's up from 28 last year and 11 when aerial surveys began in 2006. The continued growth indicates the river is producing plenty of food for the majestic birds.
