Fever sink Lynx in Game 4, win WNBA title

Call it a season for the Minnesota Lynx. They fall to Indiana in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, 87-78, as the Fever wins its first title in team history.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Tamika Catchings scored 25 points to lead the Indiana Fever to a 87-78 win over the Minnesota LynxSunday to capturethe 2012 WNBA Championship. Erin Philips added 18 points for Indiana, which spoiled Minnesota's quest for a repeat title.

Lindsay Whalen led the Lynx with 22 points and eight assists. Maya Moore added 16 points in the losing cause.

Minnesota trailed by five points at the half, and couldn't overcome the Fever the rest of the way. In the best-of-five series, the Lynx won just one game -- Game 2 at Target Center. Had the Lynx been victorious Sunday night, a deciding Game 5 would have been played in Minneapolis this Wednesday.

The Lynx are now in a must-win situation after losing game 3 of the WNBA Finals Friday night. Indiana led by 32 after three quarters and cruised to a 76-59 win. Shavonte Zellous scored 30 points to lead the Fever. Game 4 of the series is Sunday night in Indy.

The Minnesota Lynx and the Indiana Fever play game one of the finals on Sunday at the Target Center. After an 87-71 win over the Connecticut Sun Thursday, Indiana is the team to beat for a second WNBA championship title.
