Fighting Sioux fans snatching up UND gear with retired logo

Manufacturers have until next month to stop making products with the Fighting Sioux logo, which the University of North Dakota retired earlier this year after years of controversy and court battles. Critics said it was racially insensitive.

But fans of the logo aren't letting it go easily – they are buying up whatever logo-laden gear they can find, making UND apparel one of the hottest holiday gifts this year in North Dakota, WDAY reports.

Voters in June voted to allow the the university to drop the logo, and the university quickly dumped the nickname.
