It's finally happening: Portillo's reveals opening date for its first MN restaurant

Just a couple months to wait, sandwich fans.

We've known Portillo's was coming to Minnesota since it confirmed the news in December, and now we have a solid opening date for its first location.

The Chicago chain known for its hotdogs and Italian beef sandwiches confirmed Tuesday that its Woodbury location will open to diners on July 11.

But some lucky people won't have to wait until then to get their hands on Portillo's Chicago-style hotdogs, because they will be invited to a free sneak peak before the opening.

Anyone wanting the chance to go to the sneak peak can sign up here, with a pun-happy Portillo's promising diners it's going to be a "bun-believable time."

The Woodbury location at 8450 Hudson Road will be a 9,000-square-foot, 1920s-themed space with more than 200 seats, an outdoor patio and double drive-through lanes, the Pioneer Press reports.

Portillo's plans to open its second location in Maple Grove, near The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes.

Its application was initially rejected by Maple Grove City Council, before the decision was reversed after a public outcry.
