Fire burns down part of Eagan McDonald's

The restaurant was in the process of being demolished.

A fire burned down part of a McDonald's in Eagan on Tuesday.

The Eagan Police Department shared pictures of the dramatic, afternoon blaze, showing part of the restaurant at Erin Lane engulfed in flames.

It turns out, the restaurant, just off of Hwy. 77, was in the process of being demolished so a new one could be built.

Based on recent pictures of the fast food joint, the fire mainly affected the children's play area addition.

The fire is believed to have been caused by sparks created during the demolition.

Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour and nobody was injured.
