Fire razes 50-year-old Twin Cities pizza business

A popular South Minneapolis pizzeria was destroyed by fire Thursday after more than 50 years in business, WCCO-TV reports.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze that destroyed Beek's Pizza, which opened its doors in 1953. Firefighters weren't able to fully extinguish the blaze until Friday afternoon.

Also destroyed in the fire was Diamond Lake Rental -- owned by Bill and Toni Graham -- the owners of the building both businesses were housed in.

The building has been a part of the Kenny neighborhood for 80 years.

Bill Graham told WCCO that its tough to see the building burn, and that he has no choice but to "knock it down and start over."
