The red flag fire warning was dropped after passing storms brought in moisture in the southwest part of the state, MPR News says. Fire officials say there's still a chance for fires if the wind picks up and dries everything out again.

The DNR warned farmers across the state to take precautions to avoid fires by prepping their machinery to prevent overheating and sparks.

Firefighters are still fighting two small fires in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness as well as a 500-acre blaze burning just across the Canadian border.
