The flu season has turned deadly in Minnesota. The Health Department confirms the state's first flu-related death of the season. The first cases were reported in October, but the numbers have jumped in December. 165 Minnesotans have already been hospitalized by flu symptoms this season.
The state says the person who died was a man in his 60's who had other health problems.
The illness has hit schools hard recently, with 47 different schools reporting flu outbreaks. One St. Cloud school closed early for the holidays after more than 50 students were too sick to make it to class.
Health officials say it's not too late to get a flu shot. They've got a tool to help you find the nearest location at the flu page on their website.
