Food-stamp recipients seek to replace food after power outages

About 3,000 food stamp recipients have been scrambling to get additional help after their food spoiled when the power went out after weekend storms, WCCO reports.

Recipients are eligible to get back 50 percent of any lost food – if they wait in line and sign a notarized affidavit, WCCO reports. (The penalty for lying is $250,000 and up to 20 years in jail, WCCO noted.)
