Forget Tinder – there's Chairlift Speed Dating at Afton Alps

There's nothing like a romantic ride up the slopes.

If you're looking for love and none of those dating apps are doing it for you – perhaps you need a lift.

Like an actual ski lift.

Afton Alps in Washington County is offering a super Minnesotan dating service on Sunday: Chairlift Speed Dating. And it's exactly what it sounds like.

St. Louis Park-based LUMA Luxury Matchmaking will pair people up, then you take a romantic chair lift ride up to the top of the hill and possibly make a few runs together.

If the sparks aren't quite flying, just meet back up with the matchmakers and try again.

Event organizers tell the Star Tribune this is the first time Afton Alps has done anything like this. They hope to make it an annual event.

On Sunday, registration begins at 2 p.m., and the speed dating starts an hour later. That will go until 5 p.m.

Afterwards, there will be a social hour and raffle – you get a raffle ticket every time you take a ride on the lift.

Tickets are $30 – unless you're a pass holder, then they're $10. You can buy them here.

The weather should be extra nice, too. Forecasters say the Twin Cities area will see 50 degree temps this weekend.
