Although many businesses were open for Christmas Eve, that's typically not the case for Christmas Day.

Post Offices, government offices, banks and liquor stores are closed Friday, but if you're getting cabin fever or need to run out and grab something you forgot for your Christmas feast, there are still a few places open. (Remember to contact your local store to double check their hours.)

Most shopping centers and grocery stores are closed Christmas Day, but some pharmacies and convenience stores will be open, including CVS, Walgreens and 7-Eleven.

If you're not in the mood to cook, many restaurants are open Christmas Day. Open Table has a list of restaurants that are serving Christmas menus in the Twin Cities. Enstarz also has a list of national chains that are likely to be open Friday.

And if you're looking for something to do, Lifehacker has a list of ideas that include going to see a movie (movie theaters are open Christmas Day), being a tourist in your own town or going to a local park for ice skating (if its frozen) or other outdoor fun, among other things.

Some bowling alleys are also open Friday, but may have shortened hours, so check individual centers for details.

Need to get around? Metro Transit (and most public transit systems in the state) will be operating on a reduced schedule Friday.
