Former Verizon worker accused of sexting young customers

A former Verizon store employee in Hudson, Wisconsin, is accused of sending lewd text messages to female customers.

The St. Croix County district attorney charged Barton Scott, 31, of Woodbury, Minnesota, with two counts of exposing a child to harmful material and three counts of sending a threatening or obscene computer message, the charges say.

At least 13 girls or women have come forward, and it's possible there could be more complaints, FOX 9 reports. According to the station, investigators say Scott helped families with their new phones or devices that needed repairs, but kept phone numbers and passwords of the customers. He then used that information to send lewd messages, including photos of his genitals, to the female customers, the news station says.

Investigators found papers with the names, email addresses, user names and passwords for female customers at Scott's home, FOX 9 says.

Verizon says he is no longer an employee at the company.

Barton was charged on June 20, and posted $1,000 bail. He was ordered to have no contact with any of the victims, charges say. He is due to make his preliminary court appearance on July 24.
