March has been an exciting month for Gopher basketball fans. While the season came to an end with a loss to Middle Tennessee State in the NCAA Tournament, the future of Gophers basketball is looking bright.

Minnesota's future backcourt of Isaiah Washington and Jamir Harris have been bringing home the hardware and the championships this week.

Washington was named New York State's Mr. Basketball on Monday. The Daily Gopher says Washington is a point guard with fantastic handles. As a senior he averaged 26 points and 6 assists per game.

He scored a season-high 54 points in a game earlier this year. The Bronx native is believed to be the 64th ranked player in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.com.

The Star Tribune notes that Gophers coach Richard Pitino has now signed a Mr. Basketball in back-to-back classes, including Minnesota's top senior last year – Amir Coffey from Hopkins.

Harris had an equally fantastic start to the week.

He and his teammates took home the prestigious New Jersey Tournament of Champions title. Harris scored 12 points and had two assists in the victory.

According to 247Sports.com, Harris is a three-star guard. Pitino told the Star Tribune earlier this year that Harris and Washington will help solidify the backcourt for years to come.
