Georgia-Pacific plant closes in Duluth; Nolan campaign reacts
The shutdown of a Georgia-Pacific hardboard plant in Duluth Friday afternoon left 141 people out of work -- and campaigners for 8th Congressional District challenger Rick Nolan saying that Rep. Chip Cravaack didn't do enough to stop it, reported the Duluth News Tribune.
The shutdown wasn't a complete surprise: Georgia Pacific announced in August that the closure was coming and estimated it cease operations Aug. 31.
Gov. Mark Dayton promised the Duluth workers after the announcement that he would help them and their families through trying times.
