Get free pancakes at Perkins today – and maybe donate to a nonprofit, too

You can stroll into a Perkins restaurant and get a free short stack of pancakes today – and the restaurant hopes you'll consider making a donation in exchange.

It's part of Give Kids The World Pancake Day, happening at participating locations of the Memphis-based chain Sept. 24.

Perkins hopes you make a donation to Give Kids The World – a nonprofit resort in Florida for children with life-threatening illnesses, and their families.

"It's an opportunity to eat great food and change a child's life," Perkins' website says.

The goal of the Give Kids the World founder, according to the website, is to "provide memorable, magical, cost-free experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families." The villa is now 70 acres with 144 villa accommodations, plus entertainment attractions, "whimsical venues," and fun activities designed specifically for children with special needs.
