Getting to 80 wins is now a realistic possibility for the Twins

The Twins swept one of the American League's best with a 4-3 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Starting pitcher Jose Berrios was solid, taking a two-hitter into the seventh inning and striking out seven batters.

After the sweep, the Twins are seven games over .500 (24-17) in 2017.

Even if reality starts to set in, getting to 80 wins isn't that farfetched as Minnesota would have to go just 55-64 to reach the 80-win plateau. Which would be a 23-win improvement from last season, where the team had the worst record in baseball.

With Wednesday's win, the Twins padded their league-best road record to 14-5 this season.

If you're looking ahead, the month of June is another opportunity to beat up on some lowly teams as they have 11 games with Seattle and San Francisco – who are a combined 13 games under .500 as of May 24.

Minnesota has a day off Thursday before welcoming the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros for a six-game home stand.

Both opponents are polar opposites as Tampa (21-23) is near the bottom of their division, while Houston (31-15) has the best record in majors this season.

If Paul Molitor's club can make a statement by winning the series against Houston, it might be time for national experts to start believing in the Twins.
