Kidnapped! Girl appeals for safe return of stolen hand-painted gnome
A little girl and her mom have started a social media campaign to bring the girl's beloved lawn gnome home.
Jessica Martin, of Rochester, posted on her Facebook page Monday that her 5-year-old daughter Lori is "heartbroken" after her lawn gnome was kidnapped out of their front yard on 2nd Street Southeast.
Lori's grandfather got her the gnome and customized it for Lori, painting it her favorite color.
When Lori found out someone had taken her gnome, she told her mom, "Maybe who took it was just a jerk!"
Martin is hoping anyone who has information about the gnome's whereabouts would send her a message through Facebook or email her at TheGreatGnomeRescue@gmail.com. She has also requested that people share the Facebook post, and has added the hashtag #BringTheGnomeHome.
As of Wednesday at noon, the Facebook post had been shared more than 500 times.
