One of the world's largest clothing chains will make its Minnesota debut this year.

Zara will open a two-story, 30,000-square-foot store at the Mall of America by the 2016 holiday season, according to an email announcement from the mall.

It's a move that was hinted at back in January, with job listings on Monster and Craigslist suddenly popping up. Though this is the first confirmation from the company or mall publicly.

Zara will be on the mall's north side and have apparel for women, men and kids.

What is Zara?

There's a good chance you're not familiar with Zara.

The chain has a massive international presence with stores in 88 countries, but has limited presence in the U.S. It's got only around 50 locations in a handful of cities including New York, L.A., San Francisco and Chicago (which is the closest to Minnesota).

It is the flagship brand of Spanish clothing giant Inditex, which according to FastRetailing is the largest private label fashion retail company in the world with more than $20 billion in annual sales.

“Zara is a global retail leader and we are very excited to have them as a partner at Mall of America,” said Liz McLay, SVP of Leasing at Mall of America, in a news release.

The latest change at MOA

This is just the latest new move at Mall of America, which last fall announced plans for a $500 million expansion aimed at luxury shoppers.

A brand new entrance opened in November, a three-story addition with retail space and a dining area, as well as a hotel and office tower next door.

Meanwhile, Kate Hudson's athletics store Fabletics is opening on the mall's south side.

Additionally, a brand new Crayola Experience was looking to hire 250 workers.
