Go 96.3 presents Go Fest '17: The lineup, location, and all the details

Bleachers leads the lineup for this summer festival.

Go Fest '17 is the sunny summer destination for modern alternative in the Twin Cities. Buy tickets here!

Co-headlined by Bleachers and MUTEMATH, the daylong live music festival will take place on Sunday, July 2, at the Cabooze Outdoor Plaza. Go Fest ’17 is presented by Go 96.3, Minnesota’s Modern Alternative Channel, and sponsored by Audi Minneapolis and Audi St. Paul.

Miles the DJ and Jordan stopped by the Go 96.3 Morning Show with Ben, Dana, and Giselle on Wednesday morning to reveal the full lineup. In addition to Bleachers and MUTEMATH, the day will feature The Naked and Famous, MUNA, and The Unlikely Candidates.

"While booking Go Fest '17, we felt it was important to put together a lineup that mirrors what Go 96.3 does on the air," said Miles the DJ. "I’ve always thought of 'alternative' as being something different, something ever-evolving. We wanted to choose bands who both illustrate this idea while also being great in outdoor festival settings.

"Bleachers, MUTEMATH and the Naked and Famous have always delivered at Coachella and Lollapalooza. MUNA recently sold out a club show in St Paul, and the Unlikely Candidates were great at First Ave’s 7th St Entry last year."

Go Fest '17 also includes a trio of Minnesota-based talent filling out the Go Local stage: Step Rockets, Whosah, and Jeanne Taylor.

"Inviting three of our favorite local artists was also essential," Miles said. "The Twin Cities music scene is as strong as it’s ever been. Step Rockets sold out the Triple Rock in February, Whosah received a huge reaction at last December’s Go Local Battle of the Bands, and Jeanne Taylor is showing all of the signs of being a superstar in the making."

Plus, Miles the DJ will spin the best modern alternative music for the crowd between sets. Tag your experience on Twitter with #gofest.

Bleachers is the alt-rock creation of Jack Antonoff. On 2014's Strange Desire and Gone Now (out June 2), Antonoff has expertly updated the anthemic pop vibe of the '80s into something fresh and infectious. In the same catchy spirit as hits "I Wanna Get Better" and "Rollercoaster," his latest smash “Don't Take the Money” emerges quickly as yet another propulsive singalong. Antonoff has collaborated with Lorde, Grimes, Carly Rae Jepsen, and many more.

For well over a decade, experimental rockers MUTEMATH have created magic onstage and in the studio. Hits like "Typical" and "Chaos" show they can craft memorable records, but they take it over the top with a prop-filled stage show. (Inflatable raft, anyone?) Last year, they teamed up with Twenty One Pilots for the TOPxMM EP.

The Naked and Famous

Any regular Go 96.3 listener will immediately recognize "Young Blood," a monster synth-rock hit from New Zealand's The Naked and Famous. The group has released three banger-filled studio albums, including last year's Simple Forms.

Stylish alt-pop newcomer trio MUNA released their debut album, About U, in February. Vulnerable, dark, and unflinching, the collection includes the empowering single "I Know a Place."

The Unlikely Candidates

A few years back, "Follow My Feet" became a signature hit from stomping folk-rock act The Unlikely Candidates. They're back with this year's Bed of Liars EP, and "Ringer" could easily replicate that success.

Step Rockets

Leading the Go Local stage lineup, Step Rockets are an indie pop act with a knack for danceable melodies. They recently won a contest held by Bon Jovi and opened for the rock legends at the Xcel Energy Center earlier this year. Check out "West Coast."

"Ghost Town" embodies Whosah's fusion of electronic pop and eclectic rock. The U of M Battle of the Bands winners have released two EPs.

Jeanne Taylor

Jeanne Taylor has pop music in her blood, and "Fight for Me" and "L.A. Night" show she has it in her voice too. She put out her debut EP, Jeanne, last year.

Go Fest '17 is Sunday, July 2. Buy tickets Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. CST.
