Go to the Walker, get a blue condom with a rooster on it

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden's big blue rooster wants you to practice safe sex.

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden's big blue rooster wants you to practice safe sex.

Yes, we're talking about one of the Walker's new pieces, Hahn/Cock by Katharina Fritsch. It's a 20-foot tall blue rooster.

On Thursday, the Walker hosted its Wide Open Party for an evening of beer, art and cocktails. And that night, some people posted pictures of the party favors.

Yep, that's a blue condom with a blue cock on wrapper.

A spokesperson for the art center told the Star Tribune that they'll be giving these away at events throughout the summer. And Hahn/Cock's artist knows all about this and approves.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to buy a whole pack – these condoms aren't for sale. But there's a whole bunch of rooster merch you can buy here.

People aren't using condoms as much

Earlier this year, Minnesota’s health department reported there had been an “alarming” rise in the number of sexually-transmitted diseases.

And the University of Minnesota’s annual “Adolescent Sexual Health Report” for 2017 found that teens aren't getting pregnant as much. However, they're getting more STIs because condom use is on the decline.

There's also an untreatable form of gonorrhea that's spreading through oral sex and lack of protection.
