The machinery maker is planning a major expansion after striking a global distribution deal with Caterpillar. The company says the expansion will bring up to 300 new jobs to the city over the next six to eight years. It's the just latest in a series of good job news in Superior; Kestrel Aircraft earlier announced it would hire up to 600 workers to staff a new manufacturing center there.

Kestrel Aircraft, led by the founder and former chief of Duluth-based Cirrus Aviation, is negotiating with the city and state over a possible manufacturing facility in Superior. The deal isn't final yet, but the city's mayor says an announcement could come in weeks.

Aircraft maker confirms new plant in Superior, will hire up to 600 workers

Wisconsin Gov. Walker and Kestrel Aircraft announced plans Monday morning for an airplane manufacturing center that will bring up to 600 permanent new jobs to the city. The state offered a suite of loans and tax incentives to court the aircraft maker, which was also considering a site in Maine. WDIO says the company will recruit locally and tap area community colleges for training.

Enbridge proposes another pipeline from North Dakota to Superior, Wis.

Enbridge, a Calgary, Alberta-based petroleum company, wants to build a new 500-mile pipeline to transport more crude from northwest North Dakota to Superior, Wis., Forum Communications reports. Company officials say the Sandpiper Pipeline could move about 225,000 barrels per day. If the project is approved, the earliest it could go into service would be late 2015.
