Granite Gear in Two Harbors has been sold to an investment team of outdoor and luggage industry veterans and is now a newly formed division of Brzz Gear LLC in Illinois.

Granite Gear’s design and manufacturing will remain in Two Harbors, reports the Duluth News Tribune.

“After we found out they wanted to keep everything intact in Two Harbors, it made a lot of sense for us,” former owner Dan Cruikshank tells the paper.

As the Military Times reports, Granite Gear Tactical has been building the CHIEF Patrol pack for US Special Forces Command since early 2009.

Granite Gear’s 20 full-time employees and 15 part-time workers will continue with the company.

Cruikshank and co-founder Dan Knight were 23 when they started the business back in 1986 with $50 each.
