Authorities are investigating an armed robbery overnight at a McDonald's fast food restaurant in the western Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth, KARE 11 reports.

Plymouth police say the incident happened at the McDonald's in the 2700 block of Annapolis Circle North, located near Interstate 494 and Highway 55.

Responding to an alarm at about 3:30 a.m., police found a group of employees in a freezer at the restaurant.

Employees told police that a group of three males walked into the restaurant -- two of them brandishing handguns -- and ordered them into the freezers in the facility before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say descriptions of the suspects are conflicting.

The Star Tribune reports that the suspects were wearing hoodies and masks.

The restaurant was cordoned off while police investigated the scene, and reopened about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
