'Hans Strudel' is Betty Crocker's new out-of-the-box breakfast mascot

Hans Strudel has joined the Pillsbury Doughboy, the Trix Rabbit, Lucky the Leprechaun and Buzz the Honey Nut Cheerios honeybee in Betty Crocker's pantry.

The Pioneer Press reports that General Mills introduced the lederhosen-wearing Hans as its latest food mascot on Monday. The young Bavarian will plug Pillsbury Toaster Strudel with the Germanic tagline, "Get Zem Going."

The Golden Valley-based company confirmed that only the marketing campaign is changing; its frozen toaster strudel product is unchanged.
