Have your cake and eat at the casino buffet, too

A giant, edible black bear is looking down on casino-goers this weekend at Black Bear Casino and Resort.

The Duluth News Tribune reports the casino is celebrating its 20th birthday with a massive cake and a weekend-long celebration.

The Northland's News Center reports the cake, which features the big bear standing on top of Duluth scenery, measures 10 by 6-feet and weighs 12- hundred pounds, but who's counting calories?

"People think it’s a work of art or a sculpture, but it’s all edible, from top to bottom,” designer Jeremy Schrupp of "How Sweet It Is Cakes" in Duluth tells the paper.

Schrupp says it took 45 days to bake this cake, and it was carted from downtown Duluth in three large pieces — two sections to make up the waterfall and then the 500-pound bear to place on top.

The cake will be on display at Black Bear until Monday when casino staff will slice and serve it.
