Hennepin Co. holds free weddings for Valentine's Day

Hennepin County judges will unite 17 couples in matrimony at no charge on Valentine's Day.

According to a press release, couples will receive musical accompaniment provided by a Fourth Judicial District judge duet who will perform, "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?”

The couples include members of the military and first responders, as well as the general public.

Beginning at noon, weddings will take place every 15 minutes at the Hennepin County Government Center.

Thousands of couples will follow suit in India. The holiday falls on the same day as Basant Panchami, a Hindu Festival that marks the beginning of spring.

But some say the day isn't worth the hype. YourTango, an online relationship blog, gives five reasons not to tie the knot on V-day while the writers at BostInno explain why Valentine's day is actually the least romantic day of the year.
