Students at schools across the country will walk out of class on Wednesday in protest at gun violence and calling for stricter gun laws.

The Women's March Youth EMPOWER movement's "#NationalSchoolWalkout" will see children at hundreds, possibly thousands of U.S. schools leave their classrooms for 17 minutes at 10 a.m.

The 17-minute duration is in recognition of the 17 who died at the Parkland school shooting in Florida on Feb. 14, a month to the day of Wednesday's demonstration.

– Minneapolis mayor joins students on anti-gun violence march.

They will "protest Congress’ inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods."

There are 77 Minnesota schools confirmed as taking part can find the full details of each event here.

Not all have registered their walkout through the Women's March site, so there are likely more schools taking part and we'll add them as we're informed of them. Some are also choosing to do an on campus protest instead.

Here's the full list of those we know are taking part, in alphabetical order.
