Beer drinkers have voted a St. Paul gastropub as the best craft beer bar in Minnesota.

The Happy Gnome, located on Selby Avenue, was named a 2016 Great American Beer Bar by the Brewers Association's, which set out to find the best places to grab a pint in each state.

The website says more than 9,000 readers responded to the survey to nominate their favorite craft beer bar and explain why it's so great.

For St. Paul's Happy Gnome, it's the tap list, which is exclusively domestic craft and quality import, and it rotates through seasonal selections,'s list says. There are 89 beers on draught and 10 bottled/canned varieties, Happy Gnome's website notes.

The gastropub also features different beer-themed events throughout the year, including a beer dinner every month and Firkin Fest.

The Happy Gnome was founded in 2005, and is located in one of the first firehouses in the city of St. Paul.

This isn't the first time the Happy Gnome has been recognized for it's taps. Thrillist named the gastropub the "beer guidiest" craft beer bar in the Twin Cities, noting the tap list is broken down into helpful categories including "hoppy," "lighter" and "pumpkiny" to help people choose exactly what they want.

Thrillist named the Happy Gnome one of the best beer bars in the country in 2014, while Draft Magazine named the Happy Gnome as one of the best 100 beer bars in America in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
