It's not often people get excited over a sequel to a documentary series, but the internet has been abuzz the past two days over the trailer for Planet Earth II.

It's the hugely anticipated follow-up to the BBC's landmark nature documentary series Planet Earth, which first broadcast in 2006 and wowed audiences across the globe with its stunning cinematography, capturing footage of rare and wonderful creatures in their natural habitats.

Here's the trailer, featuring the music of Icelandic band Sigur Ros.

Legendary documentary maker and narrator Sir. David Attenborough will return, with his voice appearing at the end of a trailer that features cheeky monkeys, eagles, a Komodo dragon and a swimming sloth.

Unfortunately for American viewers, we'll have to wait until winter 2017 for it to arrive on BBC America, though it will be broadcast in the U.K. in November and December.

In the meantime, you can revisit the original Planet Earth, which is available on Netflix along with other BBC/Attenborough nature documentaries Blue Planet and Frozen Planet.
