Holidazzle 3.0 to kick off monthlong celebration in new location

A third iteration of Minneapolis’ Holidazzle begins at dusk on Friday.

After more than two decades of staging an animated parade down Nicollet Mall, last year the event, sponsored by the Downtown Council, switched to a European-style Christmas market on Peavey Plaza.

This year, with major renovation of Nicollet Mall underway, the seasonal event has relocated to Loring Park.

The Star Tribune notes that this year's Holidazzle will give holiday revelers at chance to ice skate, shop, purchase food and drink from local vendors and meet Santa Claus. The event, which has free admission, begins with an opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday. It will include a fireworks display, live music and the lighting of a Holidazzle tree.

KARE notes admission to the shopping village and ice rink is free.

The Holidazzle Facebook page shares pictures of the set up, including the work to set up the ice rink.

Meanwhile, in Grand Forks, the town will celebrate its annual HollyDazzle Festival of Lights on Sunday.

The Grand Forks Herald reports the downtown event will offer activities including sleigh rides, cookie decorating and music by local choirs performing in Town Square.

The HollyDazzle parade will cross the bridge into East Grand Forks, Minnesota and will be followed by a fireworks display over the Red River.
