Human remains found near Minnesota River in Burnsville

Police are investigating following the discovery of human remains in Burnsville on Sunday.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is working with the Burnsville Police Department after the remains were found near the Minnesota River around I-35W and Black Dog Road.

Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cameras show authorities were still at the scene as of 8 p.m.

KSTP reports the body was badly decomposed and had been there a long time, but investigators are treating it as a suspicious death.

Information is limited at this stage, with police set to release more once it's available.
