Update: Authorities identify teen hunter found dead in deer stand

The incident is now being investigated as a suicide.

Authorities have released more details about a teenage boy who was found dead in his deer stand in northern Minnesota this weekend.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office first reported the 16-year-old's death as an "accidental shooting" after a member of the boy's hunting party found him deceased in the stand with a gunshot wound on Saturday.

By Sunday morning, the sheriff's office had identified the victim as Corwin M. Johnson of Aurora, Minnesota.

Along with that information, the sheriff's office asked anyone who'd communicated with Johnson by phone on Saturday to contact authorities.

Based on additional information received on Sunday, the sheriff's office released another update, which says the incident is now being investigated as a suicide.
